RCA hosted an event at LA’s Sized Studios to celebrate Kesha’s latest album release. Two separate events for fans and VIPS invited guests to interact with her album artwork and live viewings of music videos from the album.
The project was creative directed by Brian Roettinger and produced by Indigo Projects.
I was brought on to Event Design and to bring Brian’s ideas to life. The focus was to highlight the visual language of Kesha’s album: stripped down and raw, getting rid of the idea of perfection and exposing the grit of real experience.
Upon entering, guests were forced to walk through piles of dirt and trail it onto the pristine white carpet. The discomfort was quickly replaced with the experience of release from the responsibility to keep things perfect as they were encouraged to carry on into our gallery space.
We used white walls, flooring, and minimal architecture to draw emphasis on the visual elements of the album. These elements were four-fold: Framed album art artwork, a used body suit discarded and pinned to the carpet, an oversized black speaker cube, and an LED Video display cube that displayed the album videos while syncing with the speaker cube.
